- Wash hands thoroughly and inspect for cuts or abrasions, bandaging any that are found.
- Keep nails trimmed to reduce glove punctures. Trim hangnails.
- If lesions, allergic rashes, etc. are present on hands, let these heal before returning to work
- Check gloves for tears or pinholes during tattooing. Petroleum based ointments can compromise latex integrity
- Pour ink in advance while wearing clean gloves, keeping ink bottle caps and rims uncontaminated
- When rinsing tubes between color changes, do not blow excess water from tubes. Pat dry.
- Apply soap to client’s skin with clean tissue. Avoid spraying soap to keep blood from becoming airborne.
